About Us

Why choose an Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC)?
Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASCs) are facilities where surgeries that do not require a hospital inpatient admission are performed. Gateway Surgery Center opened its doors May 2007 and achieved full accreditation August 2007.  We provide a safe, cost-effective, caring and convenient environment that is less stressful than a large hospital environment.  We are fully equipped with emergency supplies and certified healthcare professionals in the rare event of an emergency at the surgery center.

What we can’t do at Gateway Surgery Center:
Our patients are carefully screened before scheduling their surgery.  If you have several coexisting medical conditions, you may need to have your surgery performed at the hospital.  If you may require overnight monitoring after surgery or may need extended pain management, you will be scheduled at the hospital.  Also, we cannot perform your surgery at Gateway Surgery Center if you have a permanent pacemaker/defibrillator or if you are pregnant and are having an elective surgery.  We may be able to do select procedures (like a trigger digit release) by using a local anesthetic injection without IV sedation/anesthesia.
